Glenn Harwood

District attorney

Glenn Harwood was sworn in as the Midland County District Attorney on January 1st, 2025. 
He began his professional career in the Army in 1993. He spent five years in the Infantry as a young officer, then was awarded a full scholarship to law school. He attended William and Mary Law School and graduated in 2001. 

He served the remainder of his twenty-two year career in the Army as a JAG Officer. He served as both a prosecutor and defense counsel, both stateside and in Korea and Germany. His service also included two combat deployments to Iraq and one combat deployment to Afghanistan. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2015 and moved to Midland, Texas to begin his career as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Texas. 

During his six years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted hundreds of violent crimes involving narcotics and firearms, child exploitation cases, white collar cases, and immigration cases. He left the U. S. Attorney’s Office to enter private practice and begin his campaign for District Attorney in 2022. During those transitional years, he represented clients in both federal and state courts throughout West Texas. He has been married for over thirty years and has six children and a growing number of grandchildren.

The mission of the Midland County District Attorney’s Office is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and State of Texas, to investigate and prosecute vigorously, within the bounds of the law, all offenses over which we have jurisdiction and to not merely seek a conviction, but to see that justice is done with integrity, competence, and compassion.

In an effort to accomplish this mission, the Midland County District Attorney’s Office strives to meet the highest ethical standards in the profession. We want to ensure that the guilty are held accountable by means that are appropriate for the defendant and the offense and that the innocent are set free.
